There may be occasions when parents/carers or neighbours become concerned about the safety of a child who attends the Academy.  If you are concerned that a child is not safe, then please contact the Academy on 01202 528554 and ask to speak to a member of the Safeguarding Team about a child protection matter or email the Academy's Safeguarding Officers as below:

The Dorset out of hours children's service can be contacted on 01202 228866. During normal office hours, concerns about children in Bournemouth Christchurch or Poole can be raised by contacting the BCP multi agency safeguarding hub on 01202 735046. Concerns about children in Dorset county can be raised by contacting 01202 228866.

The Academy believes that students have the right to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment, which includes the right to protection from all types of abuse, where staff are vigilant for signs of any student in distress and are confident about applying the processes to avert and alleviate any such problems.

The Academy recognises that, because Academy staff are in regular and frequent contact with children, they are particularly well placed to safeguard and promote the welfare of students.  The Academy is aware of the responsibilities which all staff have with regard to the welfare of students.

Safeguarding is not just about protecting children from deliberate harm, it is:
  • Protecting students from maltreatment
  • Preventing impairment of students; health or development
  • Ensuring that students are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • Undertaking that role so as to enable those students to hav optimum life chances and to enter adulthood successfully.
In the Academy's recent Ofsted report, inspectors noted:

'safeguarding arrangements are particularly strong.  Appropriate measures are in place and there are rigorous procedures to ensure the safety of all students and staff.'
