Sustainable Travel

Access to The Bourne Academy is via Hadow Road, a road that is shared with Kingsleigh Primary School and local residents. We have ample parking on site, but there are other options for sustainable travel to the Academy which could have a positive effect on your child’s health, social skills, as well as safeguarding the environment and easing congestion.

Hadow Road can also be accessed via a cycling/walking pathway to and from East Howe Lane; this is shared by Kingleigh Primary School and local residents - it is open and staffed at Academy arrival and departure times.

Academy Travel Plan

Walking

Walking to the Academy could have a positive effect on your child’s health as well as help to promote their sense of independence and freedom. If you feel your child is not ready to walk alone, why not recommend that they walk with friends or siblings.

Cycling & Scooters

Many students cycle or ride scooters to The Academy. We have plenty of space to store bikes and scooters in lockable bike sheds and a bicycle pump to help students and staff who wish to cycle. If your child is cycling or scooting to the Academy, please ensure that they are aware of bicycle and road safety and that they wear the correct bike safety equipment e.g. Safety helmet.
