Speed Networking Event Focused on Student Emotional Health

The Bourne Academy organised a ground-breaking speed networking event where key front line and pastoral staff from the Academy liaised with representatives from relevant local care services.   The aim of the event was to share knowledge and information about school and community support for young people, and their families, with a ‘low level’ emotional health issues.

The event allowed staff from the Academy to talk in a group, followed by ‘speed dating’ style approach where academy staff got to speak with the healthcare professionals on a one to one basis with staff from; Public Health Dorset, help & Care, citizens advice, Relate, Early Help Operations, School Nursing, Chat Health, Dorset Mind, Mental Health in Schools Team & local GPs.

The Bourne Academy ensures that staff are regularly trained and provided with information which addresses safeguarding and emotional issues with students. Caroline Gobell, Business Director, said ‘This meeting was a fantastic opportunity to cross fertilise and network with local care services – informing them of our process and needs whilst further developing the Academy’s highly dedicated pastoral and safeguarding team.’
