The Bourne Academy Proud of GCSE Results

The Bourne Academy, an all ability state-funded secondary Academy established by its sponsor, Canford School in 2010, is delighted to announce another year of excellent GCSE exam results.

The Bourne Academy, an all ability state-funded secondary Academy established by its sponsor, Canford School in 2010, is delighted to announce another year of excellent GCSE exam results.  58% of students achieved 5 or more grades at A*-C (including English and Maths), with 67% of students achieving at least 5 grades at A*-C. This puts The Bourne Academy in the top 25% of all schools in the country for the progress students have made.

Jackie Steel, Principal, said ‘I'm absolutely delighted with these fantastic results.  They are down to the sheer dedication of the staff, and to the brilliant students who have strived for excellence.   These results are proof of what can be achieved with the combination of students, teachers and parents and carers all working together.’

Specific Successes

Congratulations to Head Girl, Nadia Kalisiak on achieving 10 GCSEs, 9 at grade A* and A, and for earning a place at Canford School’s sixth form. Congratulations also to Darrell Clarke and Sarah Fitzhenry, the Academy’s other top achievers, who both achieved 8 A* and A grades.

The majority of students at the Academy made fantastic progress to gain their set of GCSE grades, and we would like to commend them all for pulling the stops out. The students who made really exceptional progress when measured against national levels were:

Joseph Ayles, Damon Griffiths, Luka Macklin, Tom Mansfield, Jack McDonald, Nasim Meddah, Ryan Platts, Liam Robinson, Rosie Sherwood, Charlotte Thatcher, and Head Boy, Lee Thompson.

Two students who won scholarships two years’ ago to study A-levels at Canford have also excelled. Elle Upshall achieved grades AAB and has been offered a place at Leeds University to study Management & Economics, and Hayley Thomas gained ABB and will be taking her place at Exeter University to read Sociology & Criminology.
