Homewards and HRH The Prince of Wales Visit to The Bourne Academy

Today was an incredible day in the history of The Bourne Academy and we are delighted to share the news with you.

As you may already know we are extremely proud to be working with Homewards UK and The Royal Foundation, to help prevent youth homelessness in BCP; as part of Homewards UK, BCP is leading the way in creating a model to prevent youth homelessness.

Today, HRH The Prince of Wales visited Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole to highlight the pioneering work happening through the Homewards programme to prevent youth homelessness.

We were truly honoured that part of the day was spent here at The Academy, where HRH The Prince of Wales held meetings with students, staff, Homewards Partners, and a number of international delegates from organisations tackling homeless across the globe. We also welcomed the Lord Lieutenant of Dorset, visitors from The Royal Foundation, royal photographers, drones, international press, and sniffer dogs!

Homewards aims to show it's possible to make homelessness rare, brief & unrepeated. More young people are experiencing homelessness than ever before, but we don’t always see it as they’re likely to be sofa surfing, sleeping in their cars, or staying in hostels. We need to raise awareness of hidden homelessness for young people so that they can get help before they reach crisis point – we’re delighted to be working with and supporting this vital, prevention-first approach.

May we congratulate your children on their exemplary behaviour today, we couldn’t have been prouder of them all day.
