The 'Telling Tales Drama Festival' was created to showcase and celebrate the wealth of acting talent there is at the Academy. Throughout the week long festival, over 500 students watched one of four plays, selected to offer both an exciting challenge to actors but provide entertainment and 'food for thought'.
We are absolutely delighted to receive a donation of £2845 from Wave 105's Cash for Kids Scheme, supported by the local FJB Group. The award was received at a prestigious evening reception at the Harbour Heights in Poole, where each chosen charity gave a presentation about their intended project.
The Bourne Academy is very grateful to receive a generous donation of £500 from JP Morgan Chase and Co towards the purchase of a new Epson Interactive Overhead Projector for their new state-of-the-art Maths Suite.
Further evidence of the great collaborative working relationship with Canford, our Sponsor school, came about as senior Canford staff members and nine Year 12 students visited the Year 10 Leadership Academy to learn more about this very effective student body.
Fans of folk and rock music will be making their way to The Anvil, Bournemouth on 27 January at 7.30pm to see Piegeon Hole, a new young band with a fresh innovative sound. Two other bands will be supporting them; The Indiecisives and the Bonsai Pirates. Pigeon Hole will be playing songs from their debut album 'Down The Pigeon Hole' and will be available on the night or from The Bourne Academy.
The Bourne Academy recently competed in the JP Morgan Challenge Final at the Olympic Park in London. the Academy's two teams competed against 27 other schools and academies across Bournemouth and London. Their aim was to find sustainable solutions to real world problems.
The Bourne Academy was honoured to welcome Dame Julia Cleverdon, DCVO, CBE to their annual Awards Ceremony last week.
On Remembrance Day, Staff and students at The Bourne Academy remembered those who had lost their lives in military combat along with the rest of the country.

The Bourne Academy was delighted to welcome the Lord Lieutenant Angus Campbell on site together with two senior representatives from the Dorset Community Foundation.
This year, the Academy entered two teams in to the Lords Taverners Dorset Boccia Competition and finished second in Dorset behind Victoria School, coming away with silver medals.
After several visits by the Maasai Warriors, the Academy has chosen to support their Kenyan Community School, The Osiligi Obaya Primary School, in becoming an offical long term partner.
