The Bourne Academy Appointed as Lead School for Music in BCP

As part of the South Coast Music Partnership (SCMP) Music Hub initiative, The Bourne Academy is proud to announce its appointment as one of the Lead Secondary Schools for Music across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP).

The appointment is confirmed by SoundStorm, the strategic music education development agency for BCP, following a rigorous application and school visit process. The SCMP Leadership Team praised the breadth, quality, and enthusiasm of music-making at The Bourne Academy, as well as the strong support from staff and school leaders.

Joining us as joint secondary lead is Twynham School, with Baden-Powell & St Peter Junior and Longfleet CE Primary appointed as joint leads for the primary phase, and with Linwood School leading on behalf of special schools. Dan Somogyi, Team Leader at SoundStorm, commented: “We’re delighted to have appointed such a strong first group of lead schools. The quality of music education across BCP is exceptional, and we hope all applicants will contribute to a new Network of Excellence across the region.”

As a Lead School, The Bourne Academy will play a key role in shaping the future of music education across the region, supporting collaboration, sharing best practice, and ensuring that music continues to thrive in schools and communities.

Principal Mark Avoth said: “We are thrilled to be recognised for our commitment to music and creative arts. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students, staff, and the wider community. We look forward to working with our partners to inspire the next generation of musicians and performers.”
