The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and the north Bournemouth Academy is delighted to have been recognised for its success.

The Academy’s sporting achievements this year include:  Hosting Primary School Games Festivals in Leadership, Tri-Golf, Girls Football and Year 1 Literacy. Competing in Girls and Boys Football and Rugby, Mountain Biking and Golf. Participating in Well-Being initiatives including Park Yoga and Get Girls Strong. The Bourne Academy has also been running innovative and thriving ‘GALS and LADS’ extra-curricular fun sports sessions.

With many students competing in local inter-school competitions this year, The Bourne Academy is extremely proud of all students for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made all the competitions possible.

Mike Child, Director of Sport at The Bourne Academy, said, ‘As part of the application process, schools were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are delighted that the hard work of everyone at The Bourne Aacademy has been rewarded this year.  A special thanks to all of our sports leaders from Years 9-11, Sarah Dunsford, AFC Bournemouth Community Team, BU Sport and Gordon Horsley (All Schools Rugby Programme).
