Teacher reaches summit on Everest
Hayley Gaj, Teacher of PE has just climbed the highest mountain on Earth, Mount Everest, in aid of a charity, Allegra's Ambition.
Allegra tragically died just after her 16th birthday. She was a very happy girl who loved her life. Her head was bursting with ambitions, hopes and dreams and wanted to represent her country (Great Britain) at the Olympics.
The ambition of the Charity is to help other young people, through participation in sport and outdoor activities, to develop similar positive behaviour and values to enhance their lives and be happier people. Just like Allegra.
The aim of the expedition is to not only raise funds for the charity but to inspire other people to 'think big' about challenges in their own lives, not only physically but globally too. The team will also distribute education tools, sports equipment and clothing to local schools, which Allegra cared so deeply about.
The team, Hayley Gaj and Rik Elderton are enthusiastic travellers and mountaineers and have over 30 years of experience between them. The expedition is privately funded, as such all donations will be receive by beneficiaries. for further information about Allegra's Ambition, please visit www.allegrasambiton.org.uk.
