Cycle Safety at the Academy
Key stage 3 students were given the opportunity to attend a cycle safety assembly delivered by the Local Authority.
It was arranged by the Academy because the surrounding roads are now very busy and the student's safety whilst travelling to and from school is paramount.
Students watched a film on the impact of cycling without a helmet; it showed not only the impact an accident would have on the casualty but also their friends and family, immediately and in the future.
In order to encourage students to wear helmets, the Academy has provided lockers in the cycle sheds for the safe storage of helmets and lights during the school day. There are still a number available free of charge and students should contact the Facilities Team if they would like to use one.
In addition to this we have a number of cycle lights kindly provided by the Local Authority which Heads of House can distribute to students where needed.
