Year-by-Year Checklist

Year 9

  • Explore different careers.
  • Think about your interests and strengths.
  • Use your Unifrog account to complete quizzes about your skills and interests and start searching for career ideas.
  • Ask questions about different jobs.

Year 10

  • Research qualifications and career pathways.
  • Start looking for an employer for your work experience (work experience will be in April of Year 10 but we recommend finding your placement by the November before as places go quickly).
  • Start thinking about your post-16 choices.
  • Ask for help from the careers team if you want it.

Year 11

  • Attend as many open evenings as possible.
  • Apply for more than one provider or course.
  • Meet with the Careers Advisor in school (we will send you an appointment but it is helpful if you start doing your own research too).
  • Prepare your CV and practise interview skills.
