Bournemouth is located in South Dorset, with fabulous beaches to the south, the beautiful New Forest to the east and the rolling hills of Purbeck to the west. The Bourne Academy is based to the north of the town and has a good network of buses that service the area. The Bourne Academy welcomes students of all abilities and from all backgrounds.  Staff take the time to get to know and understand each students, supporting them to do their very best. The Academy creates an ethos that promotes academic, vocational and personal development. Students receive regular constructive feedback which identifies clearer targets for improvement. Tracking and monitoring of progress has been designed to help students to improve and excel. It is an exciting time in the Academy’s development, with fantastic new buildings and state-of-the-art IT.

Subject Lead Food

We want to appoint a talented, ambitious and innovative teacher to take on the role of Subject Lead in our Food and Catering department. The role is suitable for current Subject Leads or an experienced teacher looking to take on additional responsibilities.

Required for September 2020. This post is a full-time, permanent contract of employment but could be offered at 0.8 to a candidate with the right experience and skillsets.

Food and Catering falls under our STEM and Wellbeing umbrella at the Academy and the subject is delivered with generous curriculum time. The subject is taught from Year 7 through to Year 11. The department is well supported and the subject area consists of two well equipped catering rooms with good teaching and cooking space. As a member of the team you will be supported by a Director of Learning and work with a small team of experienced teachers. The department has a full time subject specific technician.

The Bourne Academy believes that Food, Nutrition and Catering is a valuable and vital subject for all students. We are committed to ensuring students are experienced with subject knowledge and skills which equip them for independent, healthy living and successful careers within the catering industry.

Teacher of PE

We have outstanding sports facilities along with an outdoor education site where students are taught bush craft and survival skills as part of the PE curriculum. This post will also involve DofE activities.

SUBJECT LEAD:MEDIA STUDIES

The Visual Arts play a vital part in our school community and helps to develop the character of our students. Students have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their curriculum and extracurricular ACE programme.

Subject Lead: Geography

A fantastic opportunity to work with us at an enjoyable, disciplined, innovative Academy.

We want to appoint an, enthusiastic Subject Lead of Geography to develop our students love of this subject. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach across the Key Stages, including our highly successful sixth form if appropriate.
