Consultation on school admission arrangements for 2027-2028
From 10 November to 22 December 2025, The Bourne Academy is asking for people’s views on proposed changes to the admission arrangements for the Academy. The final arrangements will be published on our website by 15 March 2026.
Background
Under the School Admissions Code (2021), all admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements if they are proposing any changes from the previous year, or if arrangements have not been consulted on for at least seven years. Consultations must take place for a minimum of six weeks between 1 October and 31 January, and final arrangements must be determined by 28 February 2026.

The oversubscription criteria, applied if more applications are received than places available
Consultation
As its own admission authority, The Bourne Academy is proposing the following amendments to its admission arrangements for 2027–2028:

Addition to Sixth Form Oversubscription Criteria – introduce a criterion for children of staff (already included in the Year 7 criteria).

Change to Sixth Form Oversubscription Process – applicants meeting the criteria will now be ordered by distance, rather than through random allocation, if applications exceed available places.

Minor Wording Amendments – to improve clarity, remove ambiguity, and make the arrangements easier to understand.

Removal of Duplicated Definitions – to streamline the document.
